Madeline Cyrille Miller’s professional artistic career began when they were crowned the Inaugural Youth Poet Laureate of Santa Barbara County. In January of 2024 they released two recordings with the decorated artist Buckethead, “Song for Construction/Demolition” and “Tarot Reading”, and “Solar and Lunar Rain” in March of 2024. These freestyle recordings were published online as a part of Buckethead’s Pike series, and have since been included in the album “Veins of Institution, which Cyrille wrote with Buckethead. Cyrille will continue to collaborate with Buckethead and will be supporting him on tour in the Spring and Summer of 2024. You can read Buckethead’s statement about their collaboration here. Cyrille also released a single intependently, titled “I Am Not Glamorous” in May of 2024.

Cyrille is a 20 year old gender-queer lesbian currently living on Chumash land. Their writing is informed by a kaleidoscope of musical movements and a variety of musicians, including David Bowie, Patti Smith, Sufjan Stevens, Talking Heads, and Brittney Howard. They think of their writing as fable - prose that depicts imagined scenarios which reflect a larger truth.

Cyrille creates illustrations and art that is meditative and self-reflective, like a journal entry. You can view a selection here.
